The Pima County Health Department, in collaboration with the Tohono O'Odham Nation, announced six (6) positive cases of influenza A/H1N1 in Pima County. Four (4) of the cases occurred in individuals who live on the reservation. Of the remaining two, one resides in the City of Tucson, and the other in the Town of Marana. None of the patients required hospitalization and all have either recovered or are continuing to recover.

Health Department staff has been in contact with representatives of the municipalities, the City of Tucson and the Town of Marana, as well as the superintendents of Tucson Unified School District and Marana Unified School District. At the present time, neither the Nation nor the Health Department is recommending school closures.

The Health Department has set up an informational call center for residents who have questions regarding the virus. The number is 243.7808 or toll free 1.866.939.7462. The phones will be operational today from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. and then daily Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m.

For those residing on the Tohono O'Odham Nation, the number to call is 1-877-606-9301. This number is operational 24/7.

The Health Department reminds everyone to wash hands frequently, stay home if you are sick, keep your children home if they are sick, make a plan, and call your doctor, urgent care center or community health center before going in to be seen. Emergency rooms are for emergencies, so before you go, call first.
